Position: Health Officer / School Nurse

Qualifications & Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Nursing, Health Sciences, or a related field
• Valid professional license/certification
• Previous experience working in a school or child-centered environment is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work calmly and professionally in emergency situations
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
• Compassionate, professional, and student-centered approach
• Good command of English and Amharic is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and basic medical care to students and staff
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and health-related incidents
• Monitor students who become ill during the school day
• Maintain accurate health and medical records for students
• Administer medication when authorized by parents and school procedures
• Communicate with parents regarding student health concerns when necessary
• Support health screenings and health awareness initiatives within the school
• Ensure that medical supplies and first aid equipment are maintained and available
• Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy school environment
• Support school safeguarding, hygiene, and student wellbeing procedures
• Coordinate with school leadership regarding health and safety concerns
• Prepare health-related reports and documentation when required
