Nabek Electromechanical Works PLC is an Ethiopian engineering firm that designs, constructs, and supervises electromechanical and power-system projects. The company delivers integrated electrical and mechanical solutions for industrial, commercial, and residential clients, with a focus on grid infrastructure, transmission and distribution networks, and off-grid renewable energy.
Nabek’s team of certified engineers and specialists handles feasibility studies, detailed design, procurement, site supervision, testing, and commissioning, adhering to Ethiopian Standards and international best practices.
Position: Office & Site Engineer
Education:
- B.Sc. in Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechanical, Civil, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.
- Electrical Power stream is preferred.
Experience:
- 1–3+ years in an engineering role with demonstrable exposure to both site execution and office-based project coordination.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks across locations and work under pressure with changing priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily on-site activities, including installation, testing, and commissioning, ensuring alignment with approved drawings, specifications, and milestones.
- Serve as the direct point of contact for technicians and subcontractors; set each day’s priorities, answer on-the-spot questions, and work through practical constructability issues before they turn into delays.
- Perform daily walkthroughs to spot issues early, track milestone progress, and ensure the work stands up to code and project specifications.
- Develop and/or assist in developing technical designs; size equipment and system components; and produce engineering calculations and technical specifications.
- Review tender documents; prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ); compile technical compliance sheets; and assemble comprehensive technical and commercial bid packages.
- Prepare method statements, schedules, and technical submittals for consultants, clients, and authorities to secure permits and approvals.
- Conduct joint site measurements; audit installed work quantities to support Interim Payment Certificates; and prepare and substantiate variation/change orders.
- Keep complete site logs, including daily reports, QA/QC checklists, and delivery logs; lead Site Acceptance Tests; and compile as-builts, O&M manuals, and handover documentation.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, and quality/safety standards relevant to electromechanical works.
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, and/or relevant design/analysis tools is advantageous.
- Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and method statements.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
- High flexibility and adaptability.
- Willingness to travel to sites as required.
