HIS Construction LLC, a general contractor firm based in Maryland, United States, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to join our team.

The successful candidate will support the Lead Estimator team in daily tasks, including detailed quantity takeoffs, collecting material pricing from vendors, and preparing bid proposals.

Position: Assistant Estimator

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized institution. Applicants with degrees in other fields will not be considered.
  • This is an entry-level position; candidates with less than one year of professional experience are preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quantity Takeoffs and Material Calculation: Accurately measure the required quantities of construction materials from architectural drawings, and specifications.
  • Bid Documentation Support: Assist the Lead Estimator by compiling comprehensive bid packages, which include organizing proposals and material quotes from suppliers
  • Vendor and Supplier Communication: Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain current and competitive pricing for materials.
  • Project File Management: Maintain detailed and organized project files, including tracking all correspondence, and documenting any scope changes or clarifications received during the bidding process

Additional Requirements:

  • Work Schedule:
    • Ethiopian Calendar: 7:00 – 3:00 local Ethiopian time

Ability to work remotely, requiring:

  • A laptop or desktop computer.
  • A reliable internet connection.
  • A quiet and professional work environment.
