Eco-Justice Ethiopia is a dynamic environmental and climate justice organization dedicated to advancing a zero-waste future, safeguarding human rights, and building climate resilience in Ethiopia. From empowering informal waste pickers and promoting traditional ecological practices to advocating for robust climate policies on the international stage, we are committed to ensuring a just transition for all.

We are currently seeking two passionate, driven young professionals to join our team for a 3-month internship, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent, paid role based on performance and funding availability.

Position 1: Youth Engagement and Community Mobilization Officer (Intern)

Education: A degree in Law, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, Communications, or any other related field.

Experience: 0 to 2 years of experience in community organizing, graphic design, event planning, volunteer coordination, or grassroots campaigning.

Age: Must be under 29 years old.

Skills: Highly energetic with excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills; ability to connect with diverse groups, from government officials, to high school students to frontline waste workers.

Common Details for Both Positions

Duration: 3-month paid internship.

Future Prospects: High possibility of leading to a long-term, full time paid position based on performance and the securing of upcoming project funding.

Position 2: Research and Advocacy Officer (Intern)

Education: A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree is strictly required.

Academic Excellence: Must have graduated with a minimum CGPA of 3.5

Experience: 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in research, advocacy, or legal analysis.

The Research and Advocacy Officer will support our legal and policy initiatives. This role involves analyzing domestic and international climate frameworks, drafting briefs, data collection and supporting our advocacy campaigns on issues such as the single-use plastic ban, circular economy models, and the rights of informal waste workers.

Age: Must be under 29 years old.

Skills: Exceptional analytical, writing, and research skills; strong understanding of environmental justice and human rights frameworks.
