International Rescue Committee began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refugees in six regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.
Position: Supply Chain-Transport Assistant
Education and Experience:
- Diploma/Degree in Auto mechanics, Logistics and Transport Management or any other related field from recognized university, College or TEVT.Minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience for diploma
- 0 year for first degree.Â
Preferred experience & skills:
- Very good knowledge and experience in Microsoft Word and Excel software application
- Must have good command of both spoken and written English and Amharic.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Team spirit and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently & under pressure.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong sense of personal integrity.
- Working in a multi-cultural environment
- Extensive experience in warehouseÂ
- NGO/ERP/ experience is preferred (Plus).
Major Responsibilities:
The Supply Chain- Transport assistant was an integral member of the Supply Chain Department holds primary responsibility for fleet management. Â The role holder will be responsible for all aspects of the IRC vehicles policies related to travel, Movements and tracking the ground movement and accountable for maintaining the safety and security of the vehicle and the passengers as well. They coordinate the 3rd-party insurance presence in the vehicle and ensure the annual inspection of the vehicles on time. They are also responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and directing the vehicle movement with the coordination of the program team.Â
