Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency Vacancy

The Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI), formerly known as the Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), is a strategy and delivery-oriented government institute created to help accelerate the growth and transformation of Ethiopia’s agriculture sector, which is a key contributor to the country’s GDP, exports, and workforce.

The ATI’s work is centred on improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers (SHFs) across the country for improved income, inclusiveness, resilience, and sustainability.

Position: Junior Finance Officer

Required qualifications, competencies, skills, training, and experience:

  • BA degree in accounting from recognized university/college
  • ​At least two years related work experience working as a cashier, Junior Finance officer, Accountant, or related position,
  • ​Skill in the overall management of cash
  • ​Knowledge of Microsoft applications is necessary; knowledge of accounting software like QB, Peachtree and others is advantageous.
  • ​Good knowledge of spoken and written English and Amharic is highly desired.​​

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • ​​​Prepare receipt vouchers and collect cash and/or cheque from various sources and organizations and deposit intact into the regional Bank accounts.
  • ​Ensure that all collections and payments are done against serially pre-numbered cash receipt and cash payment vouchers.
  • ​Prepare Payment sheet and effect payment as per the ATI policy and procedure manual up on requests and the fulfillment of the necessary documentation.
  • ​Record daily transactions and Perform account reconciliations.
  • ​Maintain custody of financial documents, and other files.
  • ​Maintain petty cash fund, keep in the safe place, and prepares cash report with all supporting documents.
  • ​Request for replenishment when the expenditure reaches 75% of the petty cash fund upon the authorization and approval of the Cluster Secretariat Lead and Finance Officer-Regional.
  • ​Prepare receipts for Government withheld taxes VAT & WHT and provide to the supplier up on effecting the payment.
  • ​Obtain a copy of VAT registration certificate and TIN from suppliers whenever effecting a payment.
  • ​Keep payments, vouchers, and their supporting documents in a safe place until they are transferred to the head office monthly.
  • Prepare VAT and WHT report.
  • ​Scan and Attach Financial supportive documents on Agresso Finance for every registered Vouchers.
  • ​For reconciliation purposes keep a copy of each payment and maintain it in the regional office.
  • ​Prepare receipt vouchers and collect refunds for personal telephone, faxes, and vehicle usage.
  • ​Prepare weekly cash position for the consumption of bank signatories.
  • ​Reconcile cash accounts with financial documents and update the cash book regularly.
  • ​Checks and pays all office bills /telephone, fax, water, electricity, house rents, etc. on time.
  • ​Comply with all relevant ATI policies and procedures.
  • ​Ensure the effective and efficient use of all ATI resources to keep costs low.
  • ​Perform all other duties related to the position and assist the Senior Finance Officer in his/her daily routine.​​
