ZOA, as an international NGO, supports people who have lost everything due to armed conflict or natural disaster. Together, we can come to their aid in emergencies and remain faithful to communities as they recover – providing new opportunities for them to help themselves again. The work of ZOA is coordinated from the Netherlands. We are active in multiple countries in Africa, South America, the Middle East Region, and Asia. ZOA is looking for a Communication Intern: to support ZOA Ethiopia in strengthening its external communications and public profile through effective use of social media, branding materials, and other communication channels.

Position: Communications Intern

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recent graduate 2024/2025 or final-year student in Communications, Journalism, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in social media management and content creation.
  • Basic skills in graphic design (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) are an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing ZOA’s communications workplan, including social media, banners, signage, and branded materials (e.g., uniforms/t-shirts).
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging content across ZOA’s social media platforms.
  • Support the design and production of communication materials (digital and print).
  • Monitor and report on the reach and engagement of external communications.
  • Ensure ZOA’s branding guidelines are consistently applied in all materials.
  • Assist in organizing and promoting ZOA events and campaigns.
  • Collect and share stories, photos, and testimonials from the field to highlight ZOA’s impact.
  • Support other communications and visibility tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
