Silver Spring Production and Promotion PLC which is the sole agent for ebs television. We are looking to hire a motivated and energetic candidate to join our company.
Program review is a section under the Legal Department. It contributes to the station as a gate keeping or damage preventive platform against any legal concerns. The section also facilitates smooth working environment by creating legal awareness with in the creative and production crew. “Freedom of expression being a basic right, it is also not an absolute right”; it has its own limitations; accordingly, respecting media related legislation and journalistic ethics happens to be the focus area of this section.
Position: Reporter
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Journalism and communication, foreign language and literature or relevant field
- A minimum of 5 years of work experience as a reporter.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand Amharic/English language and more.
- Broad knowledge of capital market and business.
- Excellent communication and networking skills along with an aptitude in extracting information.
- Must be able to work under time pressure deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop innovative ideas for writing news.
- Conduct research to uncover interesting and significant news.
- Analyze and collect information through various modes such as personal interviews and news briefings to prepare news reports.
- Monitor daily business events locally, nationally and internationally and assist others to gather current events.
- Prepare business reports to keep the public informed about daily business happenings.
- Maintain relations with all news sources on daily basis to develop story ideas and compile appropriate reports.
- Perform research and write international, local and national news.
- Collaborate with content editor to improve story presentation.
- Coordinate with graphics department to obtain visual elements for each story with appropriate photos or graphics.
- Administer all programs and news writing to meet deadlines.
- Attend weekly desk meetings and staff meetings to keep abreast of company policies and requirements.
- Maintain knowledge on latest events and news to obtain news coverage of important and pertinent issues.
- Stay updated with latest news and events.
- Research stories and prepare interview questions as required.
- Write news and stories in unique and interesting ways to increase viewers..
- Work independently and with program team or production staff in the news gathering process of the program.
- Research and analyze material through interview, observation and determine angle or emphasis and write stories accordingly.
- Plan, edit, and write stories and articles to be broadcasted.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary: As per the organization scale
