UN-Habitat offers an internship opportunity to support its works in promoting sustainable urbanization and improving human settlements. The intern is expected to get involved in research, analysis, and supporting various projects and activities.
The intern will work under the guidance of the National Program Officer and report regularly on progress and challenges. A work plan will be agreed upon at the beginning of the internship, and regular feedback will be provided to ensure a productive learning experience.
Position: Intern – Research Assistant and Programme Support
Summary of Requirements:
✅ Education
At the time of application, you must meet one of the following:
- a) Enrolled in a graduate school program (Master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent).
- b) Enrolled in the final year of your Bachelor’s degree.
- c) Recently graduated with Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D.
✅ Technical Skills
- Computer literate — strong in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Able to create and present PowerPoint slides at workshops/meetings.
✅ Language Skills
- Strong communication in English is mandatory.
- Knowing Amharic is desirable (advantageous but not mandatory).
✅ Personal Attributes
- Keen interest in the work of the United Nations.
- Personal commitment to UN Charter ideals (peace, dignity, equality, human rights).
- Ability to work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds — open-mindedness, tolerance.
✅ Research & Analysis Skills
- Able to generate research briefs, analyze reports, and write reports.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical ability required.
