How to Check DV-2025 Lottery Result

The Department of State administers the Diversity Visa (DV) immigrant visa program, which is an annual program for immigration to the United States. Up to 55,000 immigrants can enter the United States each year from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.

Applicants who are selected in the program (selectees) must meet simple but strict eligibility requirements to qualify for a DV. The Department of State determines selectees through a randomized computer drawing. The Department of State distributes diversity visas among six geographic regions, and no single country may receive more than seven percent of the available DVs in any one year.

The Process:

Visit the Electronic Diversity Visa website (https://dvprogram.state.gov/).

Look for the section dedicated to checking entry status (it might be labeled “Entrant Status Check”).

Enter your confirmation number, last name (exactly as entered on the application), and year of birth.

The website will display your entry status.

Additional Points:

No Email or Letter Notification: The Department of State will not notify you by email or letter if you are selected. You are solely responsible for checking your status online.
Selection Doesn’t Guarantee Visa: Being selected only allows you to proceed further in the application process. It doesn’t guarantee you will receive a visa.

You won’t be able to check the results for the DV-2025 Lottery until at least May 4th, 2 here in 2024. The process to check the results will likely be similar to the current process for DV-2024:

Results typically become available in early May the following year after the application period closes. In the case of DV-2025, this means results likely won’t be available until early May 2024.
To check your entry status, you’ll need your confirmation number, which you received when you submitted your application during the registration period in October/November 2023.
The website will only show results for the current year’s lottery. You won’t be able to see results for past lotteries.

October 4, 2023 to November 7, 2023: Registration period for DV-2025.
Early May 2024: DV-2025 results become available on the Electronic Diversity Visa website (https://dvprogram.state.gov/).
September 30, 2025: This is the last day to check your entry status for DV-2025.

Important to Remember:

The Department of State will not notify you by email or letter if you are selected in the lottery. You must check your status online using your confirmation number.
