Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia (HFHE) is a branch of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). HEHE is currently operating under Africa Habitat for Humanity International. Since it started operation in 1993, Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia has supported thousands of families and individuals.
Position: Accountant
Education:
- BA Degree in Accounting and finance
Years of Related Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in an INGO or non-profit setting.
- Proficiency in accounting software with SUN and others for e.g., Peachtree QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Excel.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting the financial management of projects. The role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management of the organization’s cash flow and cash transactions
- Manage Petty Cash and its records (Prepare PCPV for petty cash payments, prepare petty cash payments reconciliations and being custody of the petty cash)
- Make Payments for training participants on site and partners
- Follow up readily issued cheque and long outstanding cheque to be withdrawal form bank via calling to HFHE Suppliers or payees.
- Organize and maintain financial documents and ensure they are properly filed and easily accessible.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with the finance policy and procedures and principles
- Issue cash receipts for collection from staff working advances.
- Collect bank statements and bank advises from the banks.
- Prepare bank transfer request letter and cheque
- Prepare bank transfer letter for net payments and for payroll tax and pension.
- Being custody of cheque pads and signed cheques.
- Fill online tax system for monthly payroll tax, pension and withholding tax submission platform.
- Collect receipts from the tax office for submission of payments.
- Prepare Journal vouchers when needed
