Empathy for Life Integrated Development Association (ELiDA) is a women-led and Women right, non-profit, and board-led Indigenous National Civil Society Organization (CSO)

ELiDA contributes toward solving multidimensional social, economic, and political challenges of Ethiopians. ELiDA is committed to women and girls by creating opportunities and promoting girls’ education. The support includes awareness creation training on prevention of early marriage, female gentile mutilation (FGM), and harmful traditional practices (HTPs).

Position: Field Research Enumerator

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Community Development, Sociology, Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field (a Degree is an added advantage).
  • Proven experience in conducting field surveys, preferably in similar settings.
  • Current residents of areas of study, specifically Addis Ababa, Bahirdar, Dessie, Mekelle, Enderta, Nekemte, Sheger city, Jimma and Shashemene.
  • Good understanding of the local communities, including cultural sensitivity and respect for local norms.
  • Proficient in using electronic data collection platforms such as Survey CTO, ODK, or Kobo Collect.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, Amaharic and the relevant local languages in their region.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate, high-quality data collection.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends if required.
  • Commitment to adhere to Search’s and ELIDA’s safeguarding policies and ethical standards for data collection.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and accountability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend and actively participate in virtual trainings
  • Clearly explain survey objectives and ensure informed consent is obtained before starting any survey
  • Conduct surveys using electronic data collection tools (e.g., tablets, smartphones) and enter appropriately as assigned by the supervisor and review data entered at the end of the exercise for quality checks.
  • Ensure adherence to data collection protocols and maintain high standards of accuracy.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards throughout the assignment.
  • Ensure all necessary survey tools and equipment are available and functional before fieldwork begins (Phones, consent forms, tags, etc)
  • Conduct in person/telephone interviews in sampled sites efficiently and report to supervisors daily.
  • Attend and contribute to daily debriefing meetings with the assigned supervisor.
  • Applicants are expected to have the required equipment including smartphone and/or laptop with internet access.
  • When equipment is issued, ensure that all project equipment and materials are properly stored, managed, and returned at the end of the assignment.

Location: Addis Ababa, Bahirdar, Dessie, Mekelle, Enderta, Nekemte, Sheger city, Jimma and Shashemene.
