Center for Accelerated women’s Economic Empowerment Vacancy

The Center for Accelerated Women’s Economic Empowerment (CAWEE), established in 2004 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is a non-profit, trade promotion, membership organization supporting women in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), particularly those involved in export.

CAWEE collaborates with various concerned development partners, including governments, UN agencies and international organizations, to empower women economically through capacity building, skills training, export markets facilitation, facilitating the creation of decent & fulfilling jobs, etc.

Position: Volunteer Member, Youth Advisory Group (YAG)

Qualification/Criteria:

  • Be between 15-35 years old, women are highly encouraged
  • Be passionate about creating positive change for youth in Ethiopia.
  • Have a solid understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing youth enterprises in your community.
  • Possess strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate.
  • Be free from political or other affiliations that might affect your role.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to serving your community and the youth program.
  • Candidates from diverse backgrounds, including Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and marginalized groups (e.g., internally displaced persons, refugees, urban and peri-urban youth), are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Female applicants are highly encouraged.

Number of YAG volunteer members needed

  • Two volunteers from Finote Selam City, 2 from Debre Markos City , 3 from Gondar City and 4 volunteers from Bahir Dar City.
  • Seven volunteers from Dire Dawa City and 4 volunteers from Harar City

Roles and Responsibilities:

As a member of the YAG, you will be expected to:-

  • Participate in meetings and contribute to discussions regarding program implementation.
  • Provide valuable feedback and suggestions to ensure the program benefits young women and men.
  • Monitor activities and support the selection of SMEs.
  • Engage in networking, mentorship, and resource access opportunities.
  • Support the advocacy for youth issues and help shape program policies.
  • Capture key decisions and outcomes during meetings.
  • Act as a representative for youth in your community, ensuring inclusivity and diverse perspectives are heard.
