Shayashone is an emerging business engaged in agribusiness advisory/consultancy services, manufacturing and distribution, commercialization of social impact products, and import and export. Recently, the company has expanded its portfolio to the education sector on a project with a development organization.

Shayashone PLC is seeking to hire a compliment Junior Accountant for its affiliate company PHK Trading PLC that is sole distributor of PICS Bags in Ethiopia and now has expanded its horizon in multiple agro-input products. The Junior Accountant will be in charge responsible for posting journal entries, updating financial statements, maintaining accounts receivable and accounts payable, paying monthly payroll, and preparing financial reports.

Position: Junior Accountant Officer


  • BA Degree Finance and Accounting
  • 1-year of working experience preferably in import and export, business development, agri-business, market development, and other related fields

 Additional Skill:

  • Excellent organizing abilities
  • Great attention to detail
  • Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
  • Proficiency in using Accounting Software (Peachtree) and Ms Excel
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
  • Update accounts receivable and issue invoices
  • Update accounts payable, process payments and perform reconciliations
  • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
  • Prepare bank reconciliation on a monthly basis.
  • Follow up inventory reports and reconciliation on a daily basis.
  • Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. as assigned
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
  • Prepare and submit daily/ weekly/monthly reports
  • Prepare and file timely tax returns including payroll tax, pension, withholding, VAT, Royalty, annual profit tax and others as needed.
  • Follow up Value added tax refunds from the Tax Authority.
  • Liaise with external auditors to facilitate annual Statutory Audit.
  • Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
  • Assist with other accounting projects
