JSI is a public health organization dedicated to improving the health of people and communities in more than 70 countries. Almost 40 years of global experience supports and informs JSI’s work in Ethiopia. Since 1994, JSI has worked in partnership with the government and local civil society organizations to support the Ethiopian government’s health and development priorities.

JSI is working in all regions across Ethiopia, in urban as well as rural areas—though most projects reach the largest population groups by focusing on the four most populous regions. Operationally, JSI has the integrity of strong management systems, combined with the flexibility of a decentralized structure that meets clients’ and partners’ needs.

Position: Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Intern

Qualifications:

  • Medical Doctorate 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English  
  • Basic computer skills
  • Organization skills
  • Good team player and values diversity 
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task

Position Summary

Health System Strengthening Intern, your role will be pivotal in advancing a comprehensive initiative aimed at transforming Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities in pastoral geographies. The initiative specifically targets the challenges affecting access, quality, and uptake of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH-N) services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the review of proposals, research tools, guidelines, and other documents prepared by/for the activity
  • Conduct basic research on activity related topics as requested 
  • Support in the preparation and review of various documents 
  • Organize meetings, events, and other engagements as assigned by the mentor/supervisor 
  • Prepare meeting notes and briefs of various activity engagements 
  • Participate in capacity-building activities and events facilitated by the activity 
  • Undertake any other assignments given
