JAKENN Publishing PLC, the publisher of Addis Standard tri-lingual publications, is the media company of the present and the future of Ethiopia. We bring our passion for reporting and independent journalism to tell the stories that matter in today’s Ethiopia and Ethiopia being shaped for tomorrow.
JAKENN is widely known for its flagship publications on the Addis Standard tri-lingual web portal. Started as a monthly magazine in 2011, today JAKENN’s Addis Standard website (www.addisstandard.com) provides content in English, Afaan Oromoo, and Amharac languages as well as a digital production for breaking news, analyses, and spell-binding commentaries about Ethiopia that establishes an understanding of these events beyond their headlines.
Position 1: Reporters/Interns
Qualifications:
• Graduate of a degree program in journalism, communications, or related field.
• Strong writing skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
• Excellent research skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
• Curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for storytelling.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with basic journalistic ethics.
• Proficiency in digital tools and platforms for research, writing, and communication.
Language requirements
For English Products, applicants must be:
• Proficient in writing and communication skills in English and one local language (Afaan Oromoo or Amharic) languages.
For English and Amharic Products, applicants must be:
• Proficiency in writing and communication skills in English and Amharic languages.
Additional language is highly desirable and beneficial but not mandatory.

Position 2: Intern Cameraman / Video Editor
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Film, Journalism, Communication, or related fields.
- Basic experience in video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve).
- Understanding of framing, lighting, and camera operation.
- Interest in AI tools for multimedia production (voiceover, captioning, or automation).
- Eagerness to learn and passion for visual storytelling.
- Strong teamwork and time management skills.
