Islamic Relief is an international relief and development charity founded in 1984 with its headquarters in Birmingham, UK. As well as responding to disasters and emergencies, Islamic Relief promotes sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities – regardless of race, religion or gender.
The office officially started its operation in Ethiopia in 2004. Islamic Relief Ethiopia (IRE) is operational in the Somali Regional State with a base office in Hargelle, Elkere, Bare and Dekasuftu, Afar Regional State; Ewa and Gulina, Oromia Regional State; Borena, Chiro and Meayso and an additional operational office in Addis Ababa.
Position 1: Human Resource Officer
Formal Education/Qualification and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Management or related fields with five years of experiences in the humanitarian set ups; preferably in the International NGOs.Â
- Experience in setting HR strategy; talent acquisition, training and development role.Â
Skills and Competences
- Competence in MS Office
- Excellent interpersonal skills – builds good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to plan, prioritize and organize self and others.
- Ability to manage a complex and demanding workload with flexible behavior.
- Sympathy with the aims and objectives of IRE
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and action
- Very good written and spoken skill both in English and Amharic language.Â
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Position 2: Water Technician
Formal Education/Qualification and Work Experience
- Diploma in water technology electromechanical works or other related field of studies.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in implementation of Water Work projects, preferably emergency WASH projects in humanitarian, NGO or Government organizations.
Skills and Competences
- Proven knowledge of water works, construction management and emergency response activities.
- Computer literacy in MS word, Excel and CAD.
- Fluency in Somali language is a prerequisite.Â
- Good in written and spoken EnglishÂ
- Previous relevant experience in the INGO sector is an asset
Duty Station:Â Jigjiga
Position 3: Driver
Formal Education/Qualification
- Complete of secondary education, 3rd grade valid driving license,
Work Experience
- 2 years of previous related work experience with non-governmental organizations.Â
Required Skills/Competencies
- Excellent oral and written communications in English.
- Fluency in Somali language is a prerequisiteÂ
- Must reside in and share experience, language and/or culture of the community to be served.
- Well-developed interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations.
- Basic working knowledge of IR operational area.
- Sympathy with the aims and objectives of Islamic Relief.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and action.
- Commitment to IRE equal opportunity policy.Â
