Czech government scholarships for Ethiopian students for academic year 2026/2027
Prospective students from Ethiopia are encouraged to apply for the scholarship program funded by the Government of the Czech Republic. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2025.
The Government of the Czech Republic has approved the university scholarship program for the academic year 2026/2027. The citizens of Ethiopia are included among the eligible applicants for the program.
Granting scholarships to citizens from developing countries for studies in the Czech Republic represents an important long-term part of the development cooperation efforts of the Czech Republic. Ethiopia, as a priority country of the Czech development cooperation, has been benefiting from the scholarship program since 2017.
The call for applications is open for students who hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree. Eligible applicants may choose from a wide range of follow-up Master and Doctoral Study programs at a number of Czech universities. All the study programs are in English language.
Each applicant is required to fill in an electronic application form available on the website http://registr.dzs.cz/registr.nsf
All the detailed instructions for the applicants are published on this website. The application period is from August 4, 2025 to September 30, 2025.
As all the information is available online, the embassy will not respond to any emails regarding the scholarship program. Only those students who would get successfully pre-selected will be contacted directly by the embassy until December 2025 with the detailed information about the upcoming steps including the rest of the selection process.

Within the scope of foreign development cooperation, the Czech Republic provides scholarships for the following studies:
- Pursued in the Czech language:
o Bachelor’s study programmes (three to four-year-long) in selected areas of study,
o Follow-up Master’s study programmes (two to three-year-long) in selected areas of study,
o Language and preparatory studies (one-year long) – provided by the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University (https://ujop.cuni.cz/), - Pursued in the English language:
o Selected follow-up Master’s study programmes (two-year-long programmes),
o Selected Doctoral study programmes (three- to four-year-long programmes). - A scholarship of the Government of the Czech Republic for studies in the English language may only be granted if the applicant has an advanced knowledge of English. An applicant for
a scholarship of the Government of the Czech Republic is obliged to sit an online entrance English language test in the course of his/her application submission. - Scholarships for studies in the Czech language are granted with a view to a list of recommended areas of study, updated according to the needs of specific countries, and also with regard to
ongoing development cooperation projects. The list is enclosed with the annual offer of scholarships of the Government of the Czech Republic for the individual countries. Students
select a university only in the course of their language and preparatory studies and subsequently they submit an application to study at a selected university in the given deadline.
