The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia’s nine-month performance review was conducted on April 20, 2013 in the presence of the Board’s Board of Directors, management members and other participants.
It was planned to collect 2.7 billion USD in foreign exchange in the first nine months of the current budget year.
The leadership and support of the members of the Board of Directors, the dedicated leadership of the executives at all levels and the initiative of the staff of the Bank have contributed significantly to the encouraging results registered in the first nine months of the current budget year.
Commercial Bank of Ethiopia Is the largest bank in Ethiopia and is about 80 years old.

The increase in interest and service charges is due to a mismatch between the bank’s income and expenses. The bank said that the payment for most of the services has been done for free and at a very low cost.
The service it is providing in this way is challenging the existence of the bank; it forced a new service rate.
Regarding the new revised service tariff
The bank has increased its interest rate for housing development by 9.5 percent to 10.5 percent. it announced that the interest rate for corporate loans has been increased from 8 percent to 9 percent.
The Bank has made significant improvements to its foreign exchange supply services; Particularly for 90 days, foreign exchange service fees have increased from 5.5 percent to 9.5 percent. It has been found that the cost of service for foreign exchange, which is required for certain basic government products, has been reduced.
According to the bank, it has increased all services, and the rate of payment for most services is less than one percent.
The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia has more than 1,600 branches operating across the country. It earned about 14 billion birr in the 2012 fiscal year. This profit, however, is lower than the 17 billion birr it earned in 2011/12.
The performance of the first half of the fiscal year 2013 is said to be low compared to the same period of 2012.
